An Alternate Universe
The Command & Conquer Universe is very different to that we live in. Everything was progressing as normal until in 1946 this Universe broke away from our own. Albert Einstein, wishing to avert the atrocities of the bloody second World War, developed a time machine with the help of an American aide in New Mexico. He travelled back in time to the year of 1924 in the town of Landsberg, when Hitler was released from prison. This was the only point in time that Hitler's whereabouts were completely confirmed. Einstein kills Hitler, thinking that he will save the world from the horrors of World War II, but only sets off his Universe in a completely different direction. Joseph Stalin rises to power and threatens the whole of Europe with the powerful Soviet army of 14,000,000 men and women. After experiencing a series of dreams Stalin comes to believe that the birthright of the Soviet Empire is nothing less han to conquer and dominate the entire planet. After many millions of soldiers have been killed the Allies, brilliantly led by General Gunter von Esling, Supreme Commander of Allied Forces, finally regain control of the battlefield and take the capital of Moscow. One of the high-ranking Allied commanders, General Stavros, kills Stalin after he was found crushed, but still alive under a pile of rubble (heard something like that before?) One theory about World War II is that a mysterious advisor, known only as "Kane," was really the one pulling the strings in a Soviet hierarchy that was infiltrated at the top level by another organisation. Anyway the spectre of global domination has been cast aside with the destruction of the USSR, or has it?
The First Tiberium War
In the mid-1990s a meteorite struck the Earth. This may not
seem too unusual however this was a very special meteorite as
it brought the alien mineral Tiberium to this planet. This new
mineral, be harvested cheaply and very profitably. For more information
go to the Tiberium information page. Tiberium spread rapidly and
within years more than two hundred areas of the Earth were affected
by Tiberium growth. Tiberium's effects on animals and plantlife
were unknown and funding to research of Tiberium was minimal.
At this time the Brotherhood of Nod, a mysterious and ancient
organisation, comes to light with a series of brutal terrorist
operations and bombings. The Brotherhood of Nod launches a full
offensive aimed at taking control of the planet, with Tiberium
falling into its idealogies and taking the special attention of
the Brotherhood's leader, Kane, who takes it to himself to perform
research of Tiberium, injecting it into humans and other experiments.
The Brotherhood comes very close to taking control of Africa and
Europe, but the Global Defence Initiative, a United Nations Military
Taskforce ably led by Brigadier General Abra Sheppard, defeat
the Brotherhood of Nod and destroy Kane's base of operations,
the Temple of Nod, in Sarajevo. The use of the GDI's new Ion Cannon
weapon was instrumental in the destruction of Nod forces and attributed
greatly to lightening casualties during the battle. Kane is believed
to have been killed in the destruction of the Temple but there's
only one problem -- the GDI never find a body. An eerie peace
reigns over the world as the threat of Tiberium grows.........
The Second Tiberium War
It is twenty years after the first Tiberium War and the world is a different place. Tiberium has ravaged the planet and the Brotherhood of Nod still exists. Factionalised and driven underground by the Tiberium threat the terrorist organisation is still dangerous and ambitious. Experimentation with Tiberium on humans continues as the Brotherhood continues Kane's goals of creating a race of super-human soldiers. The world is so greatly affected by Tiberium growth that the GDI is now relegated to organising evacuations out of the temperate zones into the polar regions, where Tiberium growth is slowed by the adverse conditions. GDI's top leaders watch from above in the GDI's space station Philadelphia as researchers frantically search for a way to stop Tiberium from destroying all life on the planet. Suddenly the Brotherhood renews its attacks in ernest, lighting up attack warnings like Christmas lights. Kane reappears from the ashes with a vengeance. The underground organisation known as the Forgotten, a group of Tiberium-affected mutants abused by the Brotherhood of Nod and ignored by the GDI, come to light and as the world is thrown into a chaos of renewed fighting on an epic scale armageddon beckons..........
